According to the National Center for Children in Poverty (NCCP), in 2015 43% of all children under the age of 18 live in low-income families. That means 30.6 million children, or approximately one in five live in a poor family. The Food Research & Action Center (FRAC) states that 30.5 million children in more than 98,000 schools and residential child care institutions participated in the National School Lunch Program during the 2014-15 school year.
These statistics highlight the challenges that too many children face as they strive to receive an education. If parents do not have adequate resources to fund their children’s daily meals one can only imagine the challenge they find with purchasing school supplies. The LexPacks program was developed so that more underprivileged children and those from underemployed households can receive free school supplies. Our mission is to utilize our sourcing strengths to provide backpacks at a cost below wholesale to foundations and organizations who service these communities so that they will be able to extend their reach.
